A pretty good R&B pick-me-up - Ya know, I probably would never have given this album a second look-- or a FIRST one for that manner-- had one of the group s members not been a semi-regular patron at the local comic-book-and-sports-cards shop I used to work at. The guy was pretty friendly, and was one of the store s few regulars who collected for the joy of the hobby, rather than tryin to grab the hot card of the day and turning it around for a quick buck. Actually, he never purchased all that much, but his usually happy attitude and demeanor was a refreshing change from the usual array of sports card buyers that made the shop their little home-away-from-home.Anyhoo, to make a long story short: I discovered through a co-worker that the guy was part of a new R&B group tryin to get their big break, and they had an album out. I figured that the least I could do to repay my fave member of this trio for his kindness was to buy a copy of the album-- which I did. And after givin it several listens, I found it to be pretty good collection of R&B cuts in spite of the group embracing just about every cliché that s been a part of the R&B/Soul scene over the last ten to fifteen years. Take for example the Rasta-sounding guy introducing I Like Your Smile . Then there s the obligatory slow-dance-at-the-prom number Loving You . A little further down the line is Silly Me , which fulfills the A Capella requirement. Then there s the sex-ya-up, between-the-sheets naughtiness of Wanna Be My Girlfriend , which could ve stood to have been a bit more subtle in the innuendo department. Also present is the rap-intro cut, You Can t See Me , featuring some guy who I felt didn t quite flow. Ya know whut I m sayin down on the G-funk, dawg? And just what the #ell does the previous sentence mean, anyway? And rounding things out is the cover song (a new rendition of Klymaxx s I Miss You ) and a hip-hop remix track (Feat DJ Smurf s Colli Park remix of I Don t Wanna Go On). Needless to say, if you re lookin for something really fresh and original in the R&B/Soul scene, Innerlude isn t a very likely candidate to fulfill your needs...But regardless of the lack of freshness, I find The Music Within the one of the best things to relax to while I m taking a nice leisurely drive through the quieter parts of town or the countryside. It also makes my labors at the sweat factory a bit more bearable, and helps the time go by a little faster. Lord knows a little picker-upper at work is always a welcome thing... Late
LOVE THIS CD! - This CD is awesome. Yes, that good. They have kinda a 112 feel to them - pumping out the ballads, but also good jammin & driving music. Beautiful harmonies (not to mention the cover isn t too bad to look at either!). This CD is really worth your dollar. It goes onto my list of favorites!
OK Buddy - OK Buddy, Innerlude rocks. There s nothing wrong with the lead singer s voice. And if his voice wasn t good then he wouldn t be on a CD. I think you should only criticize the way you did if you can do any better....
Not so impressed! - I thought that a few songs were okay, but for the most part... Well, let s just say that the lead singer of most of the songs has that annoying ALL-4-ONE voice, like he s trying too hard (like he constantly had to push out his vibrato) and the music sounds too much like the instruments were recorded directly from a keyboard. I don t mean to be too harsh, but I really didn t like the CD at all. With all the 5 star ratings that everyone was giving them, I thought I d take a chance and purchase it. Right after I finish with this review, I m going to sell it back. I was really not impressed with Innerlude at all!
nice mix of pop and RnB - if u like pop with an RnB twist or vice versa this is a must have. There are songs similar to the ones by All 4 One, Boyz II Men, and even those boy bands. Best song - Something About My Girl. Late
