A classic finaly on CD! - This long out of print recording is long overdue. The original liner notes are reproduced along with notes about the recording dates and some reviews. The quality of this remix is fantastic. the solos pop, the harmonies resonate and you can t help but turn it up to 11. This is a must have for every trombonist. Bands fronting four bones are rare and having Kai and the little recorded Carl Fontana together is a treat. My dad found this on LP in the 60 s and I ve nearly worn a hole through it. I m still amazed to hear them doing unison lip trills. This definately was state of the art bone work in 57 and it s still hard to play today. *ONE MAJOR NOTE!! The track list on Amazon is wrong! The track list is actually from THE TROMBONE SOUND, the first LP in this series. The first track is TROMBONE PANORAMA, a sixteen minute history of trombone style. I wish most of the examples were longer but only so mush time. The other tracks are standards with arrangements that are jazzy, funky and the harmonies blow you away. The 50 s hipster version of the classic Frankie and Johnny is worth the price of the CD. Kai narrates the timeless story of a love tringle accompianied by the bones in the background. As a bonus, there are three tracks not included on the original LP>It s great to hear Carl Fontana so early in his career.. If you like this, check out BONERAMA, a four bone band from New Orleans. 1- Trombone Panorama2- The Party s Over3- The Preacher4- Come Rain Or Come Shine5- When the Red, Red Robbin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin Along6- I Can t give You Anything But Love7- Frankie and JohnnyBonus Tracks not on the LP>8- Who Me?9- Yes You10- Show Me The Way To Go HomeThis is a great CD. Fantastic sound quality, stellar performances.
